If you have been accused unfairly

Detector scores are wrong often enough that this happens to people who wrote every word themselves. Here is what actually helps.

First, do not do this

What to do

  1. Ask for the accusation in writing, and ask which tool produced it and what score it gave.
  2. Gather your process: version history, saved drafts, notes, the sources you read, and any writing recording you have.
  3. Ask for your work to be compared against earlier writing of yours. Style is personal, and a consistent style across time is real evidence.
  4. Offer to talk about the content. Someone who wrote it can discuss what they argued and why, and that conversation is worth more than any score.
  5. Ask calmly for the standard of proof. The burden is on the accusation, not on you.

What the evidence actually says

Where VeriText fits

VeriText can record how you write something, on your own device, and export a report of the process. That is useful evidence and it is not proof, which is why the report says so on its first page. It is one piece beside your drafts and your version history, strongest when it agrees with them. If you are being accused right now and have no recording, the steps above matter far more than anything this extension can do.
